'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Charlie Boy On Bench

... Glenn Roeder faced the first backlash of signing Damien Duff yesterday, convincing Charles N'Zogbia he still has a Newcastle future.

On paper it seems N'Zogbia is the player who has the most to lose following the signing of Duff from Chelsea, and regardless what Roeder told the Frenchman, Charlie Boy seems certain to start the forthcoming campaign on the bench.

Roeder: 'Charles is a wonderful young talent. But he's only 20, he's still in the early stages of his footballing education and we need pressure on all places. I still believe he will play for France and he will play plenty of football for us. He is still very much in my plans.

'Charles is so versatile.'
