Hughes Praise For Toon Army

Hughes Praise For Toon Army

Northern Ireland international Aaron Hughes returns to his old stamping ground next week, and obviously says he wants Aston Villa to win. But he says the Villa fans will never match the Toon Army.

He says his affection for Newcastle fans will always stay with him. 'I'd say Newcastle is unique. Outsiders cannot believe it and it's only when you leave that you realise how intense the place is and the fans are.

'Hopefully, I can win at Newcastle the same as Kevin won at Sunderland. This is a new situation for me because I've never had the chance to play against a former club. Hopefully, I can do well. I'm looking forward to going back to Newcastle because I'll be able to see some old friends - and not just players. And, like Kevin at Sunderland, I didn't leave Newcastle in any bad circumstances.'
