Roeder Frustration Boils Over

Roeder has put the blame on doorstep of former manager Graeme Souness, claiming he is 'lumbered' with players he does not want and feels that big money flops signed by Souness are having an affect on his attempts to strengthen his side this summer.

Roeder: 'Every club in the Premiership has got players who the previous manager has signed and the current manager wished they hadn't. Then you get lumbered with them because they end up signing three or four-year contracts and you cannot get rid of them.

'That affects the club's finances.'

All well and good, but do you try and get the best out of the players the way Sir Bobby Robson (who never believed in slagging players in publc) did, or do the opposite and knock a few million off the transfer fees by admitting they are poor players? Is that good management or bad? You tell us on our message board.

Roeder is right, Souness bought Owen, Luque, Emre, Solano, Parker, Boumsong and Babayaro for a combined fee of almost £50m and only Parker and Emre and Solano have really been worth the money.
