'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Another 'Schemer' Link

On the day Glenn Roeder insists a striker is his number one priority, Newcastle United have been linked with Argentine schemer Javier Saviola.

Barcelona have told him to look for another club, and Panathinaikos and PSV Eindhoven have already offered him a new home.

However, for financial reasons alone, England and Spain are where he fancies playing his football - not Greece or Holland.

The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at Sevilla.

The sorry was dead before it was posted and probably a sign of how well Newcastle will during the transfer window, looks another bleak season ahead.

John Barnes did a decent-enough job. As for Saviola, I can't see Newcastle being able to compete with Arsenal, they're not a london club. Too far North! As for the coming season, I can't see it being any more bleak than it was under Souness. I'm expecting the same sort of finish as last season.

I would agree arctoa. Just above mid table. Could be a difficult season if you don't get a decent striker in to replace Shearer
