Jimmy Floyd - YOUR Opinion

We are desperate for strike power, and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was on a free transfer. Will Glenn Roeder look back and wish he'd snapped up the Dutch international?

Should we have signed him when he said: 'A chance to play for Newcastle certainly interests me.'?

PLEASE VOTE IN OUR POLL.

Charlton Athletic appear to have won the race to sign Hasselbaink, with the striker reportedly set for a medical at The Valley on Monday.

Celtic held talks last week, but failed to match his wage demands, which could be the reason Newcastle have stayed clear. But could this pave the way for a bid for Charlton youngster Darren Bent, who is said to want a move to Tyneside to join his hero Michael Owen?

He is at the time of his footballing career where he couldn't hit a barn door from five yards, just gonna end up costing a tidy salary which he believes he still commands for no return.

no worse than what newcastle have at the moment! a crocked micheal owen, a seriously overrated ameobi, and who else? luque? hahahaha, if i were roeder i would take him. he'd do a job.

Ameobi played well at the end of last season, without an immobile Shearer beside him. Anyway, we should be digging out young players like N'Zogbia rather than relying on near has-beens to do a job in the short-term. Ronny Johnsen was as effective as a lamp-post and he commanded high wages during the time he was here, for example.
