'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hughton denies FA rift (AUDIO)

Newcastle United manager Chris Hughton has insisted there's no ill feeling between the club and the FA after raising concerns earlier in the week over Andy Carroll's availability for international duty.

The club had written to the FA over Carroll's fitness after the 21-year old was confirmed to start England's friendly against France. Hughton has played down fears that the striker was played against the club's wishes, insisting the worries over fitness stemmed from their own assessment of Carroll after Saturday's draw with Fulham and that he was doubtful for Newcastle's next match, let alone the England game in midweek.

Now the former Spurs assistant says he's hoping the 6ft 3in forward will be available for the weekend trip to Bolton.
