From Vital England:
The 'talk' of Andy Carroll receiving a first England call-up, at senior level, have been doing the rounds since the world cup.
So far, despite VERY strong 'reports' before the Montenegro Euro 2012 qualifier this would be handed to the Newcastle man, this has not come - and his omission from the England set-up at any level, having been left out of the U21 squad for the play-off with Romania, left doubts over an England future full stop...
His 'antics' off-the-field, which often see him gaining plenty of column inches for the wrong reasons, are course for concern although his actions, and performances, on it are as good as anyone around at the moment - certainly in the type of forward role he can play.
I guess the main question that needs answering - as his ability is not really in question that much - is 'can he keep the negative areas of his life 'off-the-field' separate from everything else?'
That is something that only he can answer.
Although if he can answer this in the positive then that first call from Fabio Capello, who saw him score the winning goal at Arsenal on Sunday, will come, and sooner rather than later...
'Reports' are growing that it will indeed come this weekend with him named in the squad for the friendly with France next week?
