'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Owen To Warm The Bench?

Michael Owen says he wouldn't object to being dropped for the match against Sweden.

With Peter Crouch on the scoresheet against Paraguay and Man Utd sensation Wayne Rooney fit and available again, Owen - short of his best after recovering from a broken metatarsal - could miss out.

Owen: 'I'm not worried. If I'm sat on the bench, I'm sat on the bench. I've been on the bench in my career before.

'If the manager thinks that is the right thing, then he'll obviously do it. That's football. We've got 23 players and if I'm on the bench then so be it.'

Good for him i say. He realises he's not 100% at the moment and is accepting it. Let him come on with 20 mins to go against the swedes and grab a brace to get him on the move for the KO stages.

I think Sven will play Owen and Rooney - and replace Rooney on 60 mins with Crouch. I think Owen will have the full 90 minutes on Tuesday
