Say No @ Sports Direct
The majority of NUFC fan's rubbished the idea and a lot of us were disgusted at the idea of re-branding, which of course means re-naming the great stadium.
All went quiet at St James' amid public fury, but as always, these things are set in motion and plans have already been submitted to the City Council.
Whilst opposing fan's who already have this type of re-branding at their ground, think Emirates for example, we may be looked upon as being petty for not wanting to rename the ground, well this isn't the case, to a lot of fan's St James' Park is not only a football ground, but a heritage and a place of memories that will be held lifelong, and I think I speak for the majority when I say, we must not let the current regime re-brand, no matter what money it will bring in, and bear in mind, we aren't going to get major cash injections through this, quite simply, our owner is plugging is market stall of a sports shop.
Planning applications have already been submitted as have nearly 200 comments from disgruntled fans and public, we we're goin go to link to the planning apps website but for some strange reason, their comments page has been closed down!!
NUFC.com ran an article with regards to the whole saga on Monday, since then, and with a distinct increase in opposing comments, the whole comment section seems to have disappeared, and why? Maybe the Planning people thought it was best, or maybe, due to the comments opposing the idea, NUFC have requested the removal, paranoid? Maybe, but My Ashley and co aren't daft...they won't want the whole of the country seeing every man and his dog commenting against his grand idea...
For now, we will keep an eye on whats happening, if the comments page that allow you to oppose the renaming returns, we'll let you know...
