Burnley End Chase For Striker

Burnley had been linked with a move for Newcastle United striker Michael Chopra. But quickly backed away when they were told there would be a fee involved.

The 22-year-old turned down a one-year extenstion to his contract at St James' Park, and is available for a fee of 300,000.

As a result, Chopra will NOT be heading to Turf Moor. Manager Steve Cotterill said: 'If I had 300,000 to spend, I would have spent it by now.'

Cardiff and Barnsley are both in talks with the striker, and don't rule out a late bid from a Premiership club, thought to be Watford.

I like your use of that quote! Steve used that quote about Sharp from Scunthorpe and not Chopra. However I think 300k is a bit steep up front for someone who hasn't realy set the place alight at either Prem, Championship or Leauge 1 standard (well apart from scoring 4 against us with watford that is!)

Quite right daret, i don't think they'll get many takers at 300,000. A free will maybe get him at best a championship team.
