'If It's Football, It's Vital'

TOTT Vital Newcastle Detroit Social Club Interview

Hi guys, thanks for taking time out to answer some questions for Talk Of The Tyne.com @ www.newcastle.vitalfootball.co.uk.

Firstly, do all of you lads support NUFC?
No just me, we have Sunderland and Liverpool supporters in the band so it's good mixture.

How old were you when you first started following Newcastle United?
They were always the team I followed as my family followed them, I had strips and memorabilia from when I was a baby but I didn't get into to it properly till I was 7/8 year old..just before Keegan took over first time.

SO what was your earliest memory?
I remember going to see Newcastle v Swindon Town..I think it was the 91/92 season at St.James..remember getting really excited that Mark Stimson came within 2 feet from where I was stood ha ha.

Are there any games at ST James' that stand out?
When we beat Barcelona back in 97/98 season that stands out...just the overall vibe of the game, St.James, the players and the general camaraderie in the city..it was immense.

What about players? Who has been your favourite past and present?
I was a keen goalkeeper before the music took over full time so I would have to say Pavel Srnicek was my football hero as a kid. At present a think Andy Carroll played really well last year..I'm hoping he can keep good form in the next season.

What about the worst player?
Well again being a goalkeeper I would have to say Mike Hooper!

As far as managers go, we've had our share, who do you feel was the best, and who was the worst in our recent times?
Obviously Keegan and Robson stand out...and it's a real shame Bobby Robson went the way he did. It's good that Chris Hughton has been given time to get the team through this recent period..I think he has great potential.

The worst for me would have to be Kenny Dalglish..at one point I thought he was going to reunite the Liverpool squad from the 80's.

What was your favourite NUFC goal?
Probably the Alan Shearer classic against Everton.

Is there any one player you would love to see in the Black and White stripes?
Maradona would have been good :)

If you could play at St James Park, in a NUFC team, which players would make your starting 11, past and present?
Pavel Srnicek, Joe Harvey ,Phillipe Albert, Bob Moncur, Terry McDermott, Kevin Keegan, David Ginola, Lee Clark, Paul Gascoigne, Alan Shearer, Jackie Milburn.

Has NUFC influenced any of your tracks?
Although we do have a track called, "Black and White" neither that or any other tune has been influenced by Newcastle.

Also, you've been compared to Oasis and Kasabian, but who in the main has influenced your music?
There really is a wide range of Music we as a band are influenced by..some we like collectively..then some we like personally..since we have formed and spent time together we have got each other into different music too.

We always have Primal Scream, MC5, Chemical Brothers blasting in the dressing room before we go on stage though it's very varied what we take influence from.

Do any of you still go to home games, have season tickets?
I haven't been to a game in a long time, some of the other lads go now and then..if we get time off any point though I'll be there...especially with the exciting season upon us.

Finally, we're back in the Prem, where do you think we'll finish?
I think if we have a strong team that has the belief and the confidence in the Prem and if we as the fans get behind them we can definitely get in the top 10.

Thanks very much… oh and feel free to join up and join in with us on the forums and please keep us informed of upcoming releases and tours.

Thanks to Greenie (David Green - drummer) for your time here.
