The sale of James Milner is becoming increasingly likely now that several clubs have shown an interest.
The winger is highly rated at St James's but having spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, where he was a regular in the side, it remains to be seen how the Yorkshire-born youngster will view the prospect of having to fight for his place having tasted regular first-team football last term.
Middlesbrough are thought to have joined Wigan Athletic, Bolton Wanderers and Villa in the race for the talented 20-year-old.
