Souness - Respect?

Graeme Souness couldn't get away from Newcastle (and Blackburn for that matter) quick enough, but despite his failings south of the border, the Jocks are currently looking for 'Souness Mark II'. Dave Mackinnon last night revealed he wants a player-manager in the Souness mould to kick-start his own Dundee revolution.

The new chief executive of Dundee outlined his bold blueprint for the future - with Rangers star Alex Rae the front-runner to succeed Alan Kernaghan in the hot seat.

MacKinnon was a player at Ibrox when Souness's arrival sent shockwaves throughout Scottish football.

MacKinnon: 'Rangers were a Premier League team going through some pretty bad times. I think they were fourth in the table when Souness came and he was a real quality player. He immediately gave the team a boost and having a player of his stature attracted players from elsewhere because he was a legend. If they were thinking of going to Aberdeen, obviously knowing that someone like Souness was at Rangers counted for quite a lot.'

how do you think you will do next season with roeder? i bet none of you are even bothered about souness now.

Souness was a good man but a crap tactician and spender.Luque who i like needs time - faye had really bad season but had some good performances(maybe 2) - emre looks good but injury prone - parker was ace signing - so was owen. So all in all he has helped a little but hurt a lot.Roeder seems good man motivator but im still unsure of his tactics sometimes.

I don't think Roeder is a master tactician, but he's certainly rallied the troops and given some confidence which is what you really needed. With some decent signings you'll be back where you belong next season.

Souness really didnt have any idea.
