Defensive trio strengten Toon resolve

Defensive trio strengten Toon resolve

Newcastle United have taken a significant step in cementing their promotion hopes with the signings of Mike Williamson (Portsmouth), Fitz Hall (QPR), and Patrick van Aanholt (Chelsea).

Williamson signs a three and half year deal, while fellow centre-back Hall joins on a six-month loan. Chelsea's 19-year-old Dutch left-back van Aanholt comes into the fray on a one-month loan transfer as well.

With Steven Taylor, Jose Enrique and Danny Simpson out with injuries, the trio will serve a worthwhile purpose as the Toon continue their quest to return to the top-flight.
