Beckford confirms move to Newcastle United

Newcastle United have landed highly-rated Leeds United striker Jermaine Beckford for a fee of £2 million, reports Goal.com.

The 26-year-old goal-scoring sensation has been in stellar form for the League One side, and it is understood that the Magpies were chasing him since last January.

'I'm off to Newcastle United,' he told Goal.com UK.

The website also reveals that the Toon had two previous bids rejected, while the third was submitted today.

Either club is yet to confirm, but news reports around England suggest an announcement is forthcoming.

A bargain if the fee is only £2m, no a steal at that price.

With all this poor weather we are having.Could be the opporunity to get some of the injured back to full fitness. Should we have a winter break?

Beckford is almost 100% heading to us, this has been on the cards for a long time.

Well pay up then, you won't get him cheap

From what I have seen of him he can be anything he wants to be. There is nodoubt he has an eye for finishing but sometimes appears a bit lazy.

Jumped the gun a bit here me thinks....

I'm confident Beckford will play for Newcastle by the end of Jan. If he doesnt then we have missed out.
xpertweb.co.uk
any idea why the deal has stalled?

Linked to Premier League teams now.... remember those days?
GazJohnson
Premier League, I remember it clearly and the best thing that ever happened to our club was to be relegated as it got rid of all the d*cks that didnít want to play for us, loyal fans deserve loyal players. As for him being linked to Premier League clubs, that is not news anymore that is history...Beckford will wear the Newcastle shirt by the end of January, Iím still confident.

Linked to Wolves, Bolton and Hull today
GazJohnson
Maybe you won't get him, we want him to stay
Tiny T
All bets are off as he withdraws his transfer request to stay in league 1
GazJohnson
Staying with us
Tiny T
poor decision...
ToonFan [Est]
Not that bad, we get him on a free then at the end of the season... any player that would make a transfer request would be out the door if you ask me, Leeds fans obviously have no idea, Beckford didnít want to play for you. Enjoy a non-committed player for the rest of the season.

Leeds will be gutted.
Nellup
...because we will walk for nothing in the Summer. I suppose as long as they go up it won't matter.
Nellup
He can go at the end of the season, with our thanks after we get promoted, twist in the tail he could stay with a new improved contract
