Geremi leaves Toon for Turkish delight

Turkcell Super Lig side Ankaragucu have completed the transfer of Cameroonian midfielder Geremi from Newcastle United for an undisclosed fee. The 31-year-old midfielder has signed an 18-month deal at his new club, and frees up around £1.5m from United's wage bill.

Geremi`s contract was due to expire in the summer, but by allowing him to leave early, the Magpies have saved themselves around £60,000-aweek for the next six months.

Magpies owner Mike Ashley has said that the saved amount would be invested in new players, and is said to have been forwarded to gaffer Chris Hughton to finance the transfer of Leeds United forward Jermaine Beckford.

seemingly this transfer isn't what it seems though! Wasn't he your captain once?
