POLL: Should Newcastle United sign J Beckford?

Newcastle United are already said to have been unsuccessful in their initial attempts to sign Leeds United striker Jermaine Beckford, but look set to return with a bid of £1.75 million.

The 25-year-old has scored 16 goals so far in League One, and looks like a terrific talent, although many question his prospects of upping-the-ante of those skills in the Championship, and more importantly in the Premier League next season.

Vital Newcastle wants to hear what you think about Newcastle United swooping for Beckford, and in your opinion, are there better options, or will this transfer be a real coup?

I think Newcastle should sign ASAP, he is an excellent talent and a great goal scorer, he would also be provided with a much better service ts Newcaslte rather than Leeds. UP THE BID and SIGN.

Remember he's got minimal experience above the 3rd tier. He's also got an attitude. But goals are goals.

He didnt just give them a run for their money, he beat man utd's defence on several occasions and scored...could be an excellent signing. I'd be very excited about signing beckford.
