More Owen Rumours

Despite more rumours today that Liverpool will offer Michael Owen the chance of return to Anfield after the World Cup, Glenn Roeder is convinced Owen will be Newcastle players next season.

Speculation has surrounded the future of the ex-Real Madrid striker virtually since he arrived at St James' Park last summer, with some commentators suggesting Owen was only marking time before returning to Liverpool.

Roeder: 'I don't think there is any reason whatsoever to think either Michael Owen or Emre will leave the club. There's nothing I've seen, detected or heard that suggests Michael and Emre won't be here next year.

'We certainly need to keep our best players, without doubt. Michael and Emre are up there with our very, very, very best players that we have here. If the club is to progress next season whoever is in charge, they must have Michael Owen and Emre in the squad.'

Statistics, statistics. Its all about what you did this year, and what are you gonna do next year that counts at the moment. Owen will stay, and you'll get a class replacement in for Al.
