Magpies brush aside Crystal Palace in 2-0 victory

Newcastle United maintained their consistent run of form with a tidy 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

United took the lead with Kevin Nolan in the 2nd minute, while utility-man Ryan Taylor finally scored his first goal in Toon colours in the 21st minute after some good work from Jonas Gutierrez created an opening for the former Wigan player.

Palace staged a comeback, but could not break through the Barcodes' defence, and the scores remained 2-0 at the whistle.

The encounter was a lively one, and Chris Hughton can derive many positives from the day. The win takes United to 10 points, and in second position in the Coca Cola Championship - only behind Middlesbrough on goal difference, and level on points with West Bromwich Albion.
