'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Ex-Mags make their mark

With nine of our players having moved on during the summer the cynics amongst us immediately thought they`d return to form away from SJP. This was certainly the case with Seb Bassong, who made himself an instant hero at White Hart Lane. Seb`s winner against the Victims today (candle light vigil planned at St Marks on Merseyside for 10pm tonight...) saw him make the ideal start to life in the capital. He did indulge in some seriously minging dancing to celebrate however.

Over in Deutschland, Oba wowed Ze Germans at Wolfsburg by scoring on his debut as the Wolves beat Cologne 3-1. Mixed fortunes beset Owen at Man Utd (1-0 win) and Habib Beye (0-2 loss at Villa Park to Wigan). David Edgar was suspended and missed Burnley`s brutal introduction to the top flight at Stoke.

Elsewhere in the lower leagues both Jonny Godsmark (scored for Hereford) and Fraser Forster (clean sheet for Bristol Rovers) also enjoyed good weekends.
