Bassong bid denied by Redknapp

Bassong bid denied by Redknapp

With Sky Sports claiming that Spurs had made a £10m bid for our own Seb Bassong, Harry Redknapp has come quickly out of the blocks to deny this. Speaking in the wake of Spurs' 2-0 defeat against South China, he said:

'It isn't true. Not since I've been here. He's a player that I was interested in. I like Bassong, he's a young player with a good future and he's a good central defender. I don't think we've made an offer as far as I know. I'm sure the chairman hasn't made an offer.'

Given most of us would probably have snapped Spurs' hands off for anything like that sort of money I'd wager a combo of the two - with Spurs probably offering a smaller sum based on appearances and international caps as opposed to the straight cash offer we'd want.
