Smith thrown to the Wolves

The Alan Smith saga continues to rumble on, with both Blackburn and Wolves today linked with moves for the player. The Express focussed on the Blackburn angle, saying we had agreed a two way split on the wages with the Lancashire club for a season long loan, prior to takeover complications emerging.

In The Times however it is Wolves and a permanent deal that looks more likely, but again the complications are there holding up the issue.

Sam Vokes coming in the other direction (to us) should be included as part of the deal

Great suggestion. Even a season long loan would be a massive benefit.

With due respect you have got to be joking CG. Vokes is a great prospect and already a Welsh International. He will be playing some sort of part for Wolves next season if only from the bench. This has been made even more likely due to the recent injury to Iwelumo which means he will miss the start of the season. Your only chance for a loan and a very small one at that IMHO, would be during the January window if for any unlikely reason he wasn`t being used. Dream on Geordies!! Anyway Vokes to one side, I wish you all the best for next season and really hope that both a suitable new owner[s] take over soon and that you begin the march back to the Premiership. There is IMO no likelihood of your fine club doing a "Leeds"and I would not even be surprised to find that you bounced straight back. If not it would be the following season at the latest.
