'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Starlet Tozer talks 08/09 injury mare

Following a 2008/09 season that was a nightmare for the first team, young defender Ben Tozer had equal measure to despair, following a season on the sidelines with knee trouble. The former Swindon lad aims to make a massive impact now the team have taken a step down the footballing ladder. Tozer said:

"It was my cartilage. I had a problem afterwards, as well, and I was out for six months. It killed the whole season.

I had my operation five days before Christmas. I went home for a week, came back into training after six weeks, and after three days I broke down again.

I was out until the beginning of May. It was really frustrating considering a new manager had come in. I just wanted to get out there and impress in training, but I couldn`t do anything.

You can`t really impress in the gym! It was a very frustrating season, really. I`d never had a serious injury before, but I`ve fully recovered, and I`m looking forward to this season. In every game I`ve played for the first team in pre-season, I`ve thought I`ve done OK.

I think I can play in the first team, and I just want a chance, really. Obviously, I`m going to have to wait for injuries, and see what the manager thinks. It`s not always what you think, it`s what they think."

VN wishes the lad the best for this season and hopefully he can show some of the promise that made him so sought over a season and a half ago.
