As expected Mike Ashley's main earner, Sports Direct, has been totally butchered in the recession. Profits fell horrifically from £118.9m to £10.7m, meaning Ashley's persistence to sell Newcastle has been further heightened. With massive cash lays having been laid out on overseas expansion, we can't rely on his profits from Sports Direct to hold up the Newcastle side of his portfolio.
