David O'Leary insists James Milner wants to stay at Aston Villa but admits a possible deal will not be sorted until the summer.
On-loan Newcastle player has been sidelined for five weeks with a virus which coincided with a run of depressing results and a section of fans calling for O'Leary to quit. But a week's training means Milner is available for Villa's derby against Birmingham and his manager knows he is a key player for the future.
O'Leary: 'I don't think anything is going to be done until the summer regarding Milner and we will see what is happening at the club. James has always said to me 'I want to come and join you' but we have to wait until the season ends.
'James is a really good player for us. When James is in our team, we have been a better team. We are a better team when we have a James Milner and a Gareth Barry in it.
'We have a good chance of having them back for Sunday and that makes us stronger than last week when we had a very young side against a very experienced West Brom team.'
