Snippets in this afternoon's Chronicle suggest that the Austrian entrepeuners behind Bwin, the current sponsors of Real Madrid and AC Milan, could be interested in the club. Note however that the Chronicle have fired out at every single juncture and must have linked about 10 different groups to us, so there may be more hot air in this than Richard Branson's Virgin balloon.

One of the Chronicle's mysterious sources said:

'It`s no surprise that Manfred or Norbert have been linked with this. If they were spotted in Newcastle it`s not a big deal, because they could be there one day and on the other side of the world the next. Their links to global sport are there for all to see.'
