'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Chuckle Chris talks

Widely regarded as the 'yes man' of the Ashley regime, hapless stand-in Chris Hughton braved the media to talk about the club's current pre-season regime. The former Spurs coach, who oversaw the band of half arsed mercenaries at Benton yesterday, said:

"The day went well and there was no difference, in many ways, to any other pre-season. There`s a job to be done, and the mood was good. I was pleased.

Whatever the situation, at this club or any other club, one thing that doesn`t change is that the players quite look forward to the first day. The first day`s always a good day, and that was the case yesterday.

The players haven`t seen each other for quite some time, and the mood was upbeat. They wanted to get to work. They`re professional enough not to let what`s happening outside affect them. The focus is on getting fit.'

I wouldn't quite deem them professional after last season's debacle...

Hapless stand-in? I thought that was your "messiah" Shearer? He's not a messiah, he's a very naughty boy!!

Hughton is such a farce. The bloke couldn't be more of a patsy if Ashley walked about with his hand up the man's cheeks.
