Dane ditched by Dear John letter

You have to complement the club for managing to plumb new depths of inadequacy at the moment. Not content with lurching from crisis to crisis in terms of ownership, finances and a new manager, the players have taken on a whole new focus. Today we learned Peter Lovenkrands was ditched via a brusquely worded letter despite expecting to return back for pre-season. A source close to Lovenkrands said:

"Peter was keen to stay on and help fight for the cause. Instead he received a letter telling him not to bother turning up for the first day of pre-season training today. He is devastated and upset by this.

Despite the pain of relegation he wanted to talk about a new deal and put some wrongs right from last season. You would have thought that was the sort of player Newcastle needed this season, but clearly they have other ideas."

Class stuff from Llabia Sugar and the gang as the player remains linked with West Ham and Wigan. Meanwhile David Edgar, who intimated that the club`s contract offer to him had been 'nothing much at all`, sealed his move to Burnley today.

Finally the list of hoy-outs was confirmed as:

Michael Owen, Mark Viduka, Claudio Cacapa, Peter Lovenkrands, David Edgar and Ignacio Gonzalez.

No news on the other wastrels as yet.
