'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Claim and counter claim

So here we sit, probably about 12 hours from pre-season starting, and the club remains in a terrible state of limbo. Despite this morning's proclamations that our former Fat Controller was to replace the current Portly President it seems the current financial liabilities are making the club even less appealing than before due diligence.

Meanwhile, back at Benton, a first team full of failures sit on their £2.5m a year+ contracts set to resume training for the likes of Scunny and Donny with Mr Motivator himself Chris Hughton set to inspire them to actually earn their corn. But wait - there's more! Coach Colin has returned to support Coach Chris in the 'Dream Team' (Ed: For mackems anyway...).

Quite what to make of this is anyone's guess. As the big hitters in the Premier League and the ambitious sides in our division start to motor in the transfer stakes, we remain stalled in the pit lane as we watch team after team pass us by. Today Reading raked in £6.5m for the sale of Kevin Doyle with which to strengthen their 3rd place finish last season.

Sheffield United remain busy, with the likes of Beckford linked. Palace are sniffing about the likes of Lita, another alleged target like the aforementioned Beckford. WBA are set to appoint Di Matteo as a boost. And of us? Shearer seems sidelined into working as a publicity tool for Newcastle-Gateshead's bid for 2018 World Cup involvement.

As another former Premier League side Southampton fight for their very survival, the parallels are getting scarily prescient. Unless we sort it soon, these things quickly unravel. Roll on August...

Yep the opposition have got a jump start on you, ok those out of contract now come off the wages bill but there still quite a few that need to be put out of their misery ie Duff. No manager and no sign of a buyer yet, all a bit of a worry.

If Boro, WBA and some of the other playoff teams start getting a match then it's going to be really difficult to catch up.
