NOTW reports sale of 12 NUFC players for £12m

British newspaper News of the World is reporting that Newcastle United are set to offload as many as 12 first-team players in a bid to reduce the clubs over-inflated £74 million wage-bill to a more acceptable £30 million.

However, in a hilarious anecdote, the newspaper stipulated that the 12 first-team players, which as been tipped to include Obafemi Martins, Fabricio Coloccini, Sebastien Bassong, and Jonas Gutierrez, will bring in a combined £12 million in transfer revenue.

The figure therefore forecasts a £1 million per player transfer ratio. Toon fans will laugh and tell the editors of the newspaper that they expect that much from the sale of one Sebastien Bassong only.

Newcastle need to go through a re-birth. New broom and start again. Dont be heartbroken if you have to spend a second season in the Championship. Get the foundations right and the rest will take care of itself

And Lua Lua to Sunderland - although you may say he's better there...

You barcodes are right to laugh at the News of the World. They just make things up as they go along. Also -- you MUST hold on to your better players, whatever their salaries, so that you can bounce straight back with a promotion. When Shearer was talking about building up from the bottom he wasn't talking about chopping the head off first!
