'If It's Football, It's Vital'

40 years and counting

The date was 11th June 1969, the place was Budapest in Hungry. This was the time and place that Bobby Moncur lifted our last piece of major silverware, the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup trophy.

Manager Joe Harvey got the best birthday present as he sent out Iam McFaul, David Craig, Frank Clark, Tommy Gibb, Ollie Burton, Bobby Moncur, Jimmy Scott, Pop Robson, Wyn Davies, Benny Arentoft, Jackie Sinclair and sub Aan Foggon completed a 6-2 aggregate victory over Ujpest Dozsa to lift the trophy.

As we look back to the glory days, winning a major honour seems a million miles away. The best we can hope for trophy wise is the Coca-Cola Championship plastic playoff trophy.
