Norwegian wonderkid declares Magpies intent

Norway international midfielder Per Ciljan Skjelbred has reiterated that he would snub the Premier League for a move to Championship club Newcastle United - the club he has supported all his life.

Skjelbred was a target for the Magpies in the last two transfer windows, and it is said that Alan Shearer is keen on the technically sound central midfielder.

Rosenborg are understood to be reluctant to sell their prized asset, who is valued at £6 million by club director of football, Erik Hoftun.

As Big Al edges closer to becoming Newcastle United manager, and deals closing in on the club's impending sale, it is highly likely that the 22-year-old creative midfielder's destiny could be on Tyneside.

Skjelbred has already rejected moves to Premier League trio Sunderland, Fulham, and Wigan Athletic in the hope that Newcastle United would take him to the North-East.

The Norwegien is held in high regard by his peers and is one of the brightest midfield prospects in Europe. A midfield partnership between Danny Guthrie, and Skjelbred could be on the cards - thus solving United's long-term central midfield woes.

I agree with the other comments by sfosteruk and xpertweb.co.uk, the kid's got talent, just what were looking for. He's supported us all his life and he's willing to snub a move to the Premiership to come and play for us, now you can't get anymore desire to play for a club than that.

This is just one chance for Newcastle to start moving forward, but after looking at all the mistakes made over the past couple of seasons it’s hard to believe they have the common sense to sign this lad as soon as possible.
