Newcastle Transfer Tattle: Gunter prefers Forest

In very much a hypothetical situation, given the precarious position Alan Shearer finds himself in, it looks as if any move to bring in Spurs full-back Chris Gunter on loan could be superceded by his keenness to return to Nottingham Forest. Though flattered by our interest, Gunter said:

'It's nice to be linked with a club like Newcastle - but I'd love another year at Forest. I was there for two months and loved every minute.'

LOL ,the Geordies no one target would rather play for Forest , at least they may have a chance of promotion next year , BIG CLUBS DONT GO DOWN

Bit harsh mate, I think Gunter is a bit too in-experienced to help you guys to promotion. Newcastle need to target older more experienced seasoned pro's if they are to re-join the elite. Players maybe around 30-35 that have been there and done it. Kevin Phillips would be a good start, maybe James Beattie, Sol Campbell would probably take on the task, players like that. Once you get back in the Premiership you can start splashing the cash again. No point paying huge transfer fees or bringing in kids

Would rather get a core of youngsters in and build for the future rather than rely on one season veterans to get us up.
