Alan Smith - Being linked, via the Daily Mail, with a £2.5m move to Blackburn. Would clear a significant wedge (£60k) a week off the wage bill but could lead to us doing a t'Leeds and subsidising part of it. The fee would pay off one year of his contract but the remaining two after that would cost us £5m *unless* he puts in a transfer request.
Danny Simpson - Part of the summer Man Utd clear out allegedly, available for a £1m fee. Would probably be a very capable addition for the Championship.
Oba Martins - Linked last week to Fiorentina and Athletico Madrid, his agent says that Villa, Arsenal and Everton are all keen to snap him up.
