'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Butt sticks to his guns

Speaking for the first time since our relegation, his second as a Newcastle player (albeit playing for Brum at the time), Nicky Butt has spoken of his sadness but says he has absolutely no regrets about swapping Old Trafford for SJP.

Butt was also candid over his desire to see Alan Shearer appointed to the manager's role. The Ginger Warrior said:

"Alan is somebody we all respect. To have him on board is a big plus for Newcastle United. The experiences of having Alan and Iain Dowie in training made every player happy.

I`ve got plenty of regrets in my career, like I regret I haven`t performed to the highest level all the time, but you can say that about every player that comes to the club.

But I`m happy I signed for Newcastle - I wouldn`t have changed it for the world. You can`t have regrets like 'I should have done this, I should have done that`. I came here to play for a massive club, and I`ve done that.

Hopefully, we can move on and rebuild. That`s what everybody is aiming for."
