The True Cost of Relegation

The last twenty four hours has seen NUFC suffer the true cost of relegation. Whilst the 15 players on £50k a week or more sit comfortably in their ivory towers, Newcastle let 120 staff go in the wake of sinking out of the Premier League. As a comparison, if we paid the 120 staff the regional average salary of £22,100 each (bloody unlikely I know), it would cost the club the equivalent of either:

- 24 weeks of Owen;
- 41 weeks of Barton;
- 53 weeks of Geremi; or
- 44 weeks of either Smith or Viduka.

That is quite simply disgusting and shows just how gut wrenchingly unfair it is on the staff let go. Let`s face it - I doubt any of the workers could care less about the club than those charlatans listed. I wonder how many of them would have escaped the sack for assaulting and being sent down for attacking someone in McDonald like Barton? Talk about living in a totally cotton wool wrapped world...

Either way - our thoughts and best wishes go out to those made redundant by the club and hopefully they`ll find new roles elsewhere as soon as possible.
