'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Further player comments / non-comments!

Having heard from Duff, Steven Taylor and Habib Beye, the latest two to come out and talk to the press are Jonas Gutierrez and Geremi, both of whom seem to be playing their cards close to their chests. With Gutierrez off on international duty with Argentina, he said:

'Right now, the main thing is the national team. I want to make my contribution to the team, be with the guys and I hope I can play. Once the qualifiers pass, we'll see what will happen with my future.'

Geremi also remained equally non-committal, saying:

'I have no comment. I am upset by our relegation.'

Still no comment yet from Martins, Smith, Nolan, Owen or Viduka along with Coloccini and Enrique out of the alleged big-hitters.

Gutierrez, and Geremi can go, in my opinion. No heart from either of them. Impressed with Danny Guthrie, though. If I want one player to stay at the Toon, its the former Liverpool youngster.

24 hours and after reading all of the articles there are a thousand more questions than answers. Over the coming days I guess we are going to see the men who will stand up and be counted and those that never should be paid again to wear a football shirt, whether, red, blue, black or white.

Lots of questions but hopefully a few will be answered when we get confirmation on Shearer.
