Following the team`s Boro heroics, Alan Shearer has asked for a repeat performance from both supporters and players as we gear up to try and topple Hodgson`s Fulham side and all but assure our Premier League safety. Speaking to the media pre-match, Big Al said:
"I asked the players to do their job first and foremost and secure our safety. Then you can go away after it and look at other clubs in terms of results. The feelgood factor amongst the fans and players has been great.
I told the players to enjoy being out of the bottom three - let`s not go back down there. We have a massive opportunity to put out a big statement to the other clubs that are struggling around us. It has to be the same intensity and we have to start the game in the same manner. It won`t just happen players will have to make it happen, like they did against Middlesbrough. So it is very much the same again.
The players gave the fans something to feed off and they responded with a great atmosphere. I urge them to bring their flags and scarves again to create a special atmosphere. I just wish they would get some new batteries on the clocks in the corner at the ground. The last 10 minutes seemed to be going so slow. But if I can experience that same feeling at full time on Saturday it will be fantastic."
