'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Post Spurs: Bassong

Speaking in the wake of the Spurs loss, player of the season candidate Sebastian Bassong spoke candidly about the shocker of the performance and the untimely result which has left us dangling over the proverbial relegation precipice. Bassong said:

'We're very disappointed about the result. We didn't do enough to get the result we wanted. The situation is starting to get very hard for us, but we just have to be ready for the next game. I think we can still win this fight - we have to. Everyone believes that we can do it.

Newcastle means a lot to me, and I don't want the club to go down in my first season. They gave me a great opportunity in the Premiership, so it's very, very important for me to help Newcastle stay in the league.'

Bassong was your best player by a mile yesterday. I was very impressed with him. How bad has Nolan become! I was shocked.

Nolan was never any good, at Bolton they'd pump long balls to Davies to hold up for Nolan. He has a fair shot on him but can do nothing else... Newcastle's midfield just don't have any dynamism.
