'If It's Football, It's Vital'

He Took His Time To Say It But ...

He's a lovely lad is Michael Owen, but after his half-hour interview on SKY TV, never think that Alan Shearer is boring ever again.

God forbid ... the 26-year old had the nation in slumber as (in true Shearer fashion) he skipped and dodged everything that was thrown at him. But one thing came out of it ... he is staying at Newcastle.

Freddy Shepherd: 'Michael is on a four-year contract with us and we do not see any reason why he will not see that out. It's a simple as that.'

This was the first time Shepherd has made a comment about Owen since the £17m transfer.

As for Owen? Well, he said the same: 'I signed a four year contract and I will be returning to Newcastle after the World Cup.'
