Ressie win but Guthrie adds to injury woes

With the midfield crying out for a bit of energy, the return of Danny Guthrie would have been a welcome one for the side. However that seems to have been harpooned, with the midfielder hobbling off late in the first half, courtesy of our former player Herr Hamann.

Andy Carroll notched both goals for us as he gave Big Al a timely nudge ahead of the physical duel with Stoke.

I went to the game and as far as midfield creativity is concerned then you may struggle finding anything better than the current first XI. Andrew Carroll took his goals well. Desperate times call for desperate measures and I see no reason why someone like Nile Ranger shouldn't be unleashed from the bench at some point.

I heard that Guthrie was training yesterday with the rest of the players. I think he's gonna be ok for saturday's clash with Stoke. Guthrie's a must for this weekend cause Nolan isn't making the grade - he should prove himself in the reserves before making a 1st team return. Nile Ranger should get a chance because West Ham, Everton and Man U have given youngsters a change and it's paid off.
