'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Post Chelsea: Lovenkrands

Having been comprehensively pole-axed at the weekend, to the point where he spent the best part of ten minutes on the sidelines receiving treatment, Peter Lovenkrands has reassured the fans he is ok, speaking to the press and revealing exactly what was happening with him. It was later revealed that Lovenkrands was already carrying an infection, which was the main cause for his breathing difficulties. The Dane said:

'After the clash it was worse and harder to catch my breath. When I was on the stretcher, I couldn't breathe. I got desperate to get air in and felt pain in my body. I couldn't feel my fingers or my arms and I began to get desperate in an attempt to breathe.

My wife came up to me when I woke up again. We were obviously both very sad and incredibly afraid of what was about to happen to me. It was hugely embarrassing for her to see me that way.'

The fact he had even less mobility after the challenge then Shola suggests he was pretty out of it.
