England U19 International wants Toon chance

Newcastle United starlet Nile Ranger is desperate to prove his skills to new boss Alan Shearer after revealing to Vital Newcastle his desire to help the Toon bounce back after the defeat against Chelsea.

The 17-year-old signed from Southampton last summer, and has been one of the rising stars for the United reserves, thus earning him a recent call-up to the England U19 setup.

Speaking to Vital Newcastle the talented youngster said: 'I don't know what else to say. I want to play in the first-team.'

Having scored 22 goals so far, Ranger is raring to go in a bid to impress Alan Shearer who will be in the stands for the Reserve team game against Manchester City on Monday evening.

First-teamers Alan Smith, Danny Guthrie, Andy Carroll, Xisco, David Edgar and Tim Krul are also expected to feature.
