If rumour is to be told, it looks like Big Al could be seriously quids in if he manages to keep us in the Premier League. At £100k a game as a consultant for 8 games that`s already a cool wedge pocketed, with a further £1m golden reward offered for Premier League status. Not bad for 2 months work! However if he keeps us at the top table it`ll be worth every single penny.

Seriously though, Geordie fans have been crying out for Shearer to take over for what, two seasons now? Three? He's being heralded as some sort of messianic saviour who cannot fail in his task of keeping the club up. The only problem which those of us not connected with the club can see is that despite the obvious morale boost this will have on the players and, in particular, the fans, Shearer has absolutely no experience or qualifications to coach or manage a top flight football club. Will Newcastle fans accept that they will be as much to blame as anyone else if Newcastle DO still go down as they're/you're the ones who've been demanding this appointment for so long?
