Shearer Reaction: Wynyard Hall

Shearer Reaction: Wynyard Hall

Hearing Sir John Hall on television again had me thinking whether our former Chairman was going to claim some bizarre connection to Alan Shearer taking the job of manager. Never one to hide his light under a bushel, SJH insinuated that he had already been there and done that with the Keegan signing, saying:

'I'm delighted at the news, but it's not the circumstances I would have wanted him to come back. I would have preferred him to come back as long-term manager because I've always felt he was the only man at this moment in time who could manage Newcastle. He's the most dedicated professional I've ever known in my time in the game.

Desperate measures, desperate times. There's a gap opening up at the bottom of the table and he'll galvanise all the fans - let's hope he galvanises the players. It's got to happen on the park. If it doesn't happen on the park we'll go down.

The fans have too high regard for Alan Shearer and they know he's coming in in very, very difficult circumstances. I'm certain no-one would judge him on these eight games. Let's just hope and pray that he can save us. That's what we're all hoping for.'

Rafa Backs Under-Fire Players

The two players that have had more grief than any other after the Bristol City home draw were Karl Darlow and Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Rafa Still Needs Time

Benitez hasn't been the reactionary manager like some we've had but it still leads to the ultimate dilemma

Vital View - Championship, 24th-26th February 2017

Brighton winning and Newcastle drawing saw Albion return to the top of the table. Huddersfield couldn't close the gap though. Wigan, Blackburn & Rotherham are still the bottom three.
