Pre Hull: Great Dane

Pre Hull: Great Dane

Having scored in our last game against the Mancs, ending Van Der Saar`s ridiculously good clean sheet streak, Peter Lovenkrands has made an impressive impact at SJP since joining in January. Speaking ahead of the game with Hull, the winger-cum-striker sounded a solid note:

"Hull is going to be crucial for us - you only have to look at the table. It`s the same for everybody down there at the minute. Everybody is under pressure and looking for points. Hull winning at Fulham was a bit surprising. It was a killer for us, but we have to do something similar to them.

We don`t want to be remembered as the team that lost Newcastle United`s place in the Premier League. They`ve been here a long time and they should stay here. We need to try not to focus on history too much or other results, let`s just build on the positives rather than looking at the negatives. Our luck will change - we just need to believe in ourselves. We know that when you are at the bottom of the table you don`t get much luck.

That showed in our last game against Manchester United when we conceded a deflected goal and they scored off one of the only mistakes we made all night. It`s tough to swallow. We have been right in some games and worked hard but got nothing. The effort that the boys put in wasn`t rewarded. We need to take this on to the next couple of games. We need to do this for the rest of the season.

The crowd were brilliant against Man United it kept us going and they didn`t turn on us. I`m just sorry we couldn`t win it for them. Now we hope to make it up to them."
