'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Bassong declares, 'I'm interested in Arsenal'

Newcastle United centre-back Sebastien Bassong has gone on record stating that he is interested in moving to Arsenal in the summer, but insists his plans for a transfer will not hamper his performances for the Magpies.

Speaking to Foot Mercato the Frenchman stated, "Newcastle want to make me sign a contract extension. I`m waiting to see what they`re going to offer me.

"My agent told me about Arsenal`s interest. But I don't think now is the moment to speak about it. I must be focused on my football and on the end of the season, we will see what happens then.

"At the moment I`m 100 percent focused on Newcastle and I don`t see any reason why this would change.

"But I would lie if I said that Arsenal are not a club I`m interested in. But many things can happen before we can speak about a transfer."

Would be gutted if Bassong left us, he has been instrumental for us this season and honestly would arsenal be intrested in him after only one season in the premiership.

Stinks of Insomniagate. It's almost eerie. French, young, talented -- yeah, he's a Charlie Insomnia waiting to happen. £10 million is a generous fee. I'd recommend the club to take the money and run.
