Magpies face competition for Croatian winger

Newcastle United are understood to be interested in the services of Heerenveen winger Danijel Pranjic. The 20-times capped Croat has been a loyal servant to his national side, and a consistent performer for his club, and the Toon are said to be keen on bringing him to St. James' Park in the summer.

Soren Lerby, Pranjic's agent told Foot Mercato : "I can confirm to you that a host of clubs are following him, mainly English and Spanish teams such as Real Betis and Sevilla."

Versatile Pranjic can play both at left-back, and on the wing, making him an attractive prospect. However, he is 27-years-old, and one might be wary whether he has left behind his best years.

No fee has been revealed so far, but United's interest may not be as strong as that of Spanish outfits Betis, and Sevilla.

So if Pranjic comes, where is Guttierez going to play, on the right? Or is Pranjic going to play left-back?
