Newcastle United chasing Swedish superstar

Newcastle United are ready to offer Swedish superstar Henrik Larsson a route back to the Premier League by offering him a short-term deal until the end of the season, reports The News of the World.

Larsson`s deal with homeland club Helsingborgs finished at the end of 2008 and he is free to join United for nothing — outside of the transfer window.

The 37-year-old Swede snubbed Hull City's overtures earlier in the season, but may consider joining the Magpies with the prospect of Kevin Keegan returning as manager a possibility after it emerged that representatives from the manager's camp had contacted Toon owner Mike Ashley regarding a possible return.
