Fighting Talk From Nobby Solano

Fighting talk from Nobby. He has set his sights on Newcastle shooting up the league after the victory over Birmingham City at the weekend.

He said 'That was an important win for us against Birmingham. We knew it would be tough, the manager told us last week that it would be a battle because Birmingham are fighting for points. I think we had a bit of luck in the end, but you need that in some games. We defended really well and they hardly had any chances. When we were attacking it was tough to penetrate them because they had seven, eight and nine men back behind the ball. But we stayed patient, and it was good to see Emre score.'

Newcastle are currently 10th with 18 points after a very mixed start to the season despite some big summer signings. However despite the slow start, the Toon army is only 3 points off 3rd place in this ever changeable Premiership league.

Solano, a shock summer signing himself, says that things are improving:

'We are very confident now. At West Brom we played some good attacking football, but on Saturday we had to have more of a battle. The important thing was we got three points in both games, and we are moving up the table now. The aim is still to finish in the top four. We want to get into the Champions League, and if we keep winning games in the way we did at the weekend then we will have a chance.'

Champions League, here we come!
